Outdoors
A big part of Austin’s culture is the great outdoors. From the Hill Country vistas outside the city and Lady Bird Lake in the center of town,  Austin has miles of hike and bike trails, more than 200 parks and around 300 days of sunshine each year.

Austin, Texas is home to North America’s largest urban bat colony.  When construction began on the Congress Avenue Bridge (now the Ann Richards Bridge) in 1980, city planners had no idea they had just engineered the perfect roosting spot for bats!  With up to 1.5 million Mexican free-tailed bats spiraling into our skies each night, Austin now has one of the most unusual and fascinating tourist attractions anywhere.
